Why you need a PCP
Think of a primary care doctor like the general contractor of a project. A general contractor has all of the project information and works as a central contact to keep the entire project running smoothly. As needed, the contractor hires specialists (like an electrician and plumber) to handle the part of the jobs they specialize in. Your PCP (Primary Care Physician) is the first person you contact when you have a health question or issue. If needed, your PCP will refer you to specialists. After you see a specialist, your Primary Care Doctor will continue to be your advocate and work with you to resolve your health issues, providing comprehensive care you can count on.
